At OneConnect, we care deeply about Privacy. We believe in transparence, and we’re committed to being upfront about our privacy practices, including how we treat your personal information.

1. Introduction

1. OneConnect operates a number of companies functioning within the innovative space, providing turnkey technology services and solutions to small, medium and large businesses in South Africa and throughout the African continent. OneConnect is obligated to comply with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013.

2. The POPI Act requires the OneConnect to inform anyone that provides personal data as to the manner in which their personal information is used, disclosed and/or destroyed

3. OneConnect is committed to ensuring that personal information provided to it is kept private and is used appropriately, transparently, securely and in accordance with applicable laws.

4. This Policy sets out the manner in which OneConnect deals with personal information as well as and stipulates the purpose for which said information is used. The Policy is made available on the OneConnect website www.oneconnect.co.za and by request from the OneConnect head office.

2. Personal Information Collected

1. OneConnect may collect and process personal information depending on the need for which it is collected and such personal information shall be processed for that purpose only.

2. Whenever possible, OneConnect shall indicate what personal information is required and the personal information that is deemed optional. Examples of personal information that may be collected include, but is not limited to name and surname, email, telephone number, company name and address, job title and role.

3. OneConnect may also collect and process personal information for marketing purposes in order to ensure that its products and services remain relevant to its customers and potential customers.

4. OneConnect aims to have agreements in place with all product suppliers and other third party service providers to ensure a mutual understanding with regard to the protection of personal information.

5. OneConnect’s suppliers will be subject to the same regulations as applicable to OneConnect.

6. With consent, OneConnect may supplement personal information provided with information received from other providers in order to offer a more consistent and personalized experience.

3. The Usage of Personal Information

1. Personal Information will only be used for the purpose for which it was collected and as agreed.

2. This may include:

2.1 providing information on OneConnect’s products or services;

2.2 confirming, verifying and updating client details;

2.3 conducting market or customer satisfaction research;

2.4 providing communication in respect of OneConnect’s activities; and

2.5 in connection with and to comply with legal and regulatory requirements or when it is otherwise allowed by law.

3. OneConnect may also collect and process personal information for marketing purposes in order to ensure that its products and services remain relevant to its customers and potential customers.

4. Disclosure of Personal Information

Anyone that provides personal information to OneConnect hereby agrees that OneConnect:

1. May disclose a such personal information to any of the OneConnect’s companies or subsidiaries, joint venture companies and or approved product- or third party service providers whose services or products they elect to use;

2. May share personal information with, and obtain information from third parties for the reasons already discussed above; and

3. May disclose personal information where it has a duty or a right to disclose in terms of applicable legislation, the law, or where it may be deemed necessary in order to protect its rights.

5. Safeguarding Client Information

OneConnect will continuously review its security controls and processes to ensure that personal information is secure.

THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURES ARE IN PLACE IN ORDER TO PROTECT PERSONAL INFORMATION:

1. OneConnect Information Officer is Lesego Mosupye whose details are available below and who is responsible for the compliance with the conditions of the lawful processing of personal information and other provisions of the POPI Act;

2. Each new employee with access to personal information will be required to sign an employment contract containing relevant consent clauses for the use and storage of personal information, or any other action so required, in terms of the POPI Act;

3. All electronic files or data are backed up by OneConnect IT Division which is also responsible for system security that protects third party access and physical threats. OneConnect IT Division is responsible for Electronic Information Security.

6. Access and Correction of Personal Information

1. Anyone whose personal information is held by OneConnect:

1.1 has a right to access such personal information;

1.2 has the right to ask OneConnect to update, correct or delete their personal information on reasonable grounds; and

1.3 has a right to objects to the processing of their personal information, where after OneConnect shall no longer process the said personal information.

2. OneConnect shall take all reasonable steps to confirm identity before providing details of personal information or making changes to personal information.
