Under the slogan “Empowering Excellence” the Mozambican capital, Maputo, recently hosted Blackboard’s first Executive Conference, in partnership with OneConnect. This event is primarily aimed at officially launching of their brands in the Mozambican economy and discussing essential topics for the dynamics of the transformation of digital education in Mozambique.

The Conference also served to contribute to the framing of eLearning within the scope of the Government’s Five-Year Plan, Economic and Social Plan, and Strategic Plan of the Ministry of Science, Technology, Higher Education and Professional Technician, Strengthening of eLearning in the various National Institutions, Expansion, Quality and Easy Access to education.

OneConnect Group Co-Founder and Chairman, Rogers Sithole, said in the opening speech of the event that the business has grown significantly in South Africa, Kenya and the East Africa region.

Mozambican eradicated in South Africa, where he obtained academic training and became a successful businessman, Rogers Sithole reveals that his satisfaction was not complete because he felt the need to return to his homeland to create the same impact.

The technological platform presented by Blackboard and OneConnect intends to bring solutions to problems such as access to education and services, which in our country, many of them continue to operate manually depending only on physical infrastructure. If implemented, it could put Mozambique on an equal footing with other countries that are engaged in technological development to improve the lives of their populations.

Talking about the advantages of this platform for the country, Rogers Sithole stated that technology innovation has created many jobs, contribute to businesses coming up with new offerings, and reaching people they would have never reached before, besides allowing teaching and learning institutions to train students with a high level of quality.
